Lauren Brown-Akowe is a progressive candidate for Civil Court Judge in central Brooklyn serving Bed-Stuy, Clinton Hill, North Crown Heights, and Ocean Hill.

Lauren currently is the Principal Law Clerk to a Justice of the Supreme Court, Kings County, Civil Term, where she has spent her career supporting complex civil litigation through rigorous legal research, opinion drafting, and courtroom coordination.

Before her work in the courts, Lauren served as Managing Attorney of her own law firm, practicing in both Houston and New York City with a focus on estate planning, wealth management, and real estate law. She has also served in the New York City Family and Civil Courts as a Court Attorney.

A native of Houston, Texas, Lauren earned her B.B.A. in Marketing from the University of North Texas and her J.D. from Thurgood Marshall School of Law at Texas Southern University — where she was trained to advocate for justice at every level.

Lauren believes deeply in lifting as she climbs. She mentors high school, college, and law students individually and through organizations like Legal Outreach, and chairs the Scholarship Committee for the Psi Lambda Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.
